THE WILSON CREEK HALF MARATHON

Saturday, July 13th | Lenoir, NC

The Wilson Creek Half Marathon will be held on July 13th, 2024 with a great course that gives you a great chance to see the Wilson Creek Recreational Area!

The Scream Half Marathon is now the Wilson Creek Half Marathon, honoring the river that spans the entire course.  What hasn’t changed is the same incredible scenery, post-race experience, and expert management. Glory Hound Events keeps the same course they unveiled in 2022 to great reviews by both their runners and the US Forest Service.  They look forward to seeing their loyal runners again and meeting new friends who will experience running in the Wilson Creek Recreation Area for the first time.

Packet Pickup/Late Registration

Friday, July 12 – Hillman Beer (212 S. Green Street, Morganton)

You may pick up another person’s packet (provided they signed the waiver during online registration) but you must know their date of birth and sign for their packet.

Saturday, July 13 – 5:00-6:30 AM – Brown Mountain Beach Resort (6785 Brown Mountain Beach Road, Lenoir)

Course

Their course is an out-and-back on Brown Mountain Beach Road inside the Wilson Creek Recreation Area in the Grandfather Ranger District.  The entire course is run along the river providing amazing views throughout the race.  Those who ran the old Ridge-to-Bridge/Peak-to-Creek Marathon will recognize this as the last section of that race.

This course is currently not USA Track & Field certified.

Course Cutoff Time: All participants must complete the 13.1 mile course in 3:30 hours or less. 

Aid stations will be located at two-mile intervals (approximate) along the course. Each will offer water and energy drink with some having cookies and/or pretzels.  

Awards

The awards ceremony will take place at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort.

Awards will be offered in the following categories:
Top 3 Male and Female Overall
Top 1 Masters Male and Female
Top 3 finishers in the following age groups:
18-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-60; 70-74; 75 & Over.

Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award. Awards will not be mailed.

Timing

The race will utilize chip timing. The chips are attached to the back of your race bib so don’t crinkle them.

Post Race

They will have bottled water, bananas and dill pickles at the finish line with a catered lunch to follow at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 10:00 AM. 

Beer will be provided to all participants 21 and over from our friends at Hillman Beer.  One per person and you will need to give us the Glory Hound tab on your race bib.  If you look less than 21 or regularly get carded, please bring your ID.
